Teaching philosophy
Education is when students learn new concepts and are able to synthesize new ideas from these concepts. I believe students learn best through active learning, a supportive environment, and the concept of science of learning (no multitasking, true understanding instead of memorization, and responsibility). Good teaching entails an enthusiastic and knowledgeable teacher who cares for the students and communicates effectively in class and when providing feedback. With these teaching strategies, students become good learners, because they will be motivated, accountable, and respectful. Students will also learn how to be a critical thinker and how to be resilient in receiving constructive feedback. I believe whenever a student does not understand a concept, it is the teacher’s responsibility to adapt and explain it differently so that all students will understand it. I use a combination of providing background information in lectures and active learning, which supports student success.
